We have received reports over the last few days of an off-road bike illegally and anti-socially riding on roads in Etwall close to schools and riding across park land.
Off-road bikes aren’t allowed on public spaces like parks, pavements, footpaths, roads or open land. It’s not just illegal - it can be dangerous for other people and wildlife too as well as the rider. (To ride an off-road bike legally, you need to ride it on private land, with the landowner’s permission.)
Today our Youth Engagement team PC Lewis was on separate enquiries close to the Mickleover area (South Derbyshire side) when the bike happened to drive past, rider -a youth with no helmet on!
Parent visited, bike seized (pictured) and the young rider will be being dealt with for driving offences- no licence, no helmet, no insurance!

If you’ve seen off-road bikes being used illegally or dangerously, take down key details such as descriptions of the bike, rider, location and time. Send us CCTV, video or photos if you have it.
